… and you know what a high-quality brand attracts, don’t you?
That’s right – high-quality clients who are happy to invest in themselves through your business!
You know, I’m on a bit of a mission. (And that’s a bit of an understatement.)
I see WAY too many business owners self-publishing books that are of poor quality.
They may not even realise that their poor-quality book is making a big statement about the quality of their business.
I implore you – please don’t self-publish a poor-quality book.
I encourage you to raise your standards for your yet-to-be-published book… in fact, I encourage you to raise your standards in all areas of your life.
From choosing fresh, healthy food for your body, to spending time with people who make you feel good, to getting plenty of sleep and exercise, to living in an uncluttered, beautiful environment … you know what I’m talking about.
Your life and business can set a high standard, and so can your book.
Imagine it being an absolute joy for readers to encounter your book. A compelling, beautiful cover. Clear structure. Thoughtful content expressed so well that readers aren’t even aware of how it is written; they’re simply drawn into its message.
Don’t you agree that there’s more than enough dross being churned out these days, in all forms?
I encourage you to rise above that, and to contribute something worthy, valuable and beautiful to the world. To give every reader a high-quality experience.
Ultimately, I believe that it’s worth investing time and effort creating something that is going to bring “life” to the experience of humankind and the planet. It may sound lofty, but I truly believe that books have the power to change the world.
In terms of your book’s quality having an effect on your business – imagine if Brené Brown’s books had been poorly conceived and poorly expressed? They would not have been shared so widely and they would not have impacted so many lives.
I encourage all of my publishing clients to stretch themselves, to push that bit harder to express clearly what it is that they are trying to convey, and to provide the most valuable content possible.
In fact, I believe that the following message should be emblazoned across the wall of every business owner: “If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing well.”
Having said that, you do need to be practical. Balance the pursuance of quality with the real-time need to get your book “out there” (for an idea of how long you should allow for your book’s creation, check out Timeframes for Publishing Your Book). Put considerable thought and effort into your book, and give it professional polish, but stick to your realistic deadline for having it reach your ideal clients.
When you do that, your high-quality book is able to start positively impacting the world, and your business.
